Pre School

For ages three to five years, the Pre School is situated in its own separate building next door to the main building. It consists of two large open plan rooms, a sensory room and an outdoor classroom which the children have free flow in and out of. Within these areas we provide a wide range of activities including sensory play and arts and crafts. We also have a spacious acting area where the children are given the chance to express themselves into enthusiastic role play. The emphasis in our pre school is on teaching early life skills that children need to succeed at school including reading, writing and numeracy.

We provide a rich and varied programme of activities including jolly phonics and yoga taught by fully trained instructors. The preschool is divided into learning areas, each equipped with resources that focus on emergent writing, mathematics, reading, ICT, construction and many others. The children go on frequent nature walks around the local area.

Our aim is to help the children in our care to approach a major change in their lives – ‘BIG school’ – we want them to be able to do this with confidence, skills and enthusiasm for learning that will give them a valuable head start in life. Our ratio in this room is one adult to eight children.
